For this GoPro project, I aimed to create an image that embodied the spirit of adventure — rugged, practical, and prepared for anything. Instead of relying on digital backgrounds, I built an entirely physical set from scratch. Using OSB board, wooden battens, and printed wood textures, I constructed a custom wall section and floating shelf that allowed me to arrange all the gear exactly as I envisioned.
Every item on the shelf was deliberately chosen: a climbing rope, a multitool, lenses, a flashlight, and the GoPro itself — essential gear for anyone venturing outdoors. The set was carefully assembled, with each prop secured in place to maintain balance, shape, and realism under the lights.
Lighting was crucial. I positioned an intense, warm beam from the top left to mimic golden-hour sunlight striking a cabin wall. This created deep shadows, rich highlights, and a cinematic glow that naturally drew the eye towards the GoPro. To enhance the composition, I shot multiple plates and carefully blended them in post-production to emphasise texture, contrast, and the final mood.
What appears to be a simple wooden shelf is, in fact, a bespoke, one-of-a-kind set crafted specifically for this shot. The result is a warm, dramatic scene that feels lived-in—a small workshop moment frozen in time, with the GoPro at its heart.
